If the Covid-19 Pandemic has done one thing it’s focussed our minds on hygiene. Never have we washed our hands so many times in a day and never would we have imagined that such a simple action could ward of a killer virus.
By the end of the year we’ll all be experts on anti-bacterial cleaning products versus anti-viral products with the possible exception of people who continued to ignore the strong advice to stay at home!
Post Covid (I keep being tempted to put post Brexit!) thousands of employees will continue to work from home but they will at least be in control of the hygiene in their new working environment if not the children running riot and the dog barking whilst they’re on a conference call.
For those returning to the office environment employers must put in place strong new measures to limit the spread of infection. They have a duty of care to provide a clean environment to help minimise staff absence and avoid potential illness or face expensive litigation and unwanted publicity.
It’s not just the threat of punitive action that employers should fear, it’s the cost of staff absence and the effect that this has on their business. According to the Office of National Statistics an estimated 141.4 million working days were lost because of sickness or injury in the UK in 2018, the equivalent to 4.4 days per worker. One of the most common reasons for sickness absence in 2018 were minor illnesses, including coughs and colds.
It’s very easy for germs to spread in a warm environment especially in the winter months when central heating is on all day and windows remain closed. Bacteria can multiply up to 700 times in an hour when a headset is used for prolonged periods. And one of the shortest routes for infection to get into the body is via the ear canal and if you get an ear infection, you will really know about it!
It’s also been proven that some workstations (and mobile phones), even those that are only used by one person, can be up to 1000 times dirtier than the average toilet seat, and toilet seats tend to get cleaned far more often!
The solution is to regularly clean headsets, handsets, mobiles and workstations using antibacterial and anti-microbial sprays and cloths. At NB Data we have a range of workstation and smartphone cleansing products that will help clean headsets, PC’s, peripheral devices and more. Here’s three;
Our Equipiclean range include larger than average cleaning cloths that are the only anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-microbial cleansing wipes of their type on the market. A hydro entangled spun lace material enhances the collection of dirt and dust while eliminating 99% of all bacteria and more and as they do not use water, and are a non-alcoholic based product, they do not harm the surface of the equipment and the work surfaces cleaned. (Alcohol based products can be harmful to office equipment as they can break down the strength and colour of the plastics used). The flannels can remain moist up to 2 hours (in prime conditions) giving a wider area of cleaning for your telephone, headset, keyboard, mouse and your personal desk space.
Our VTech range of analogue and SIP phones have an anti-bacterial coating. This means that Zeomic®, an inorganic antibacterial agent, has been added to the plastic used in the phones. Zeomic uses silver and other ions to prevent the growth and migration of bacteria, mould and fungus. Through nanotechnology, the ions are infused into the plastic, creating a stable agent that maintains its effectiveness for the life of the phones.
Spray Twice a Day isn’t just something we want you to do, it’s the name of a new anti-bacterial spray product specifically invented in Denmark for mobiles, tablets and PC’s. Spray Twice a Day effectively kills 99.99% of the 4 most common hospital infections and is approved to EU ISO1276 Get into the habit of Spraying twice a day to help keep bacteria at bay.
For information on any of these products please contact NB Data on 01617672540, by completing our enquiry form or why not webchat with us?
Note: NB Data do not make any claims about these products regarding Corona Virus which according to many articles requires alcohol to kill it. Our aim is to highlight the need to reduce the number of bacterial infections common in most working environments and on mobile phones etc.
